Elkassouf, TarekLebanon, 1982
Tarek Elkassouf’s work is about noticing the small things in life that we often do not pay attention to. He sees beauty in detail, in the beautifully mundane.
His art is also a dialogue between the sound of the machine and the silence of man practicing an ancient craft. He seeks a balance between how we are creating, sculpting, and presenting.
Elkassouf explores the concept of balance after loss. He understands the concept of the invisible through what is not there; the empty, and its exchange with the full. For Elkassouf the invisible is the space between words or the silence in music which is as important as the notes themselves. It is the space between two worlds. Tarek is based between Beirut and Sydney.
