Hady Sy (b. Beirut, 1964) is a multimedia artist, engaging principally in photography. Sy pursued degrees in political science and communication at Beirut University College in Beirut, Lebanon, as well as at L’École des nouveaux métiers de la communication (EFAP) and La Sorbonne in Paris, France. After a career of two decades in fashion photography, Sy turned to the visual arts. He has had solo shows in Beirut, Berlin, Dubai, Kuwait, Los Angeles, Moscow, New York, Paris, and Saint Petersburg, including Sifr at Saleh Barakat Gallery, Beirut (2017) and at Dar al Funoon, Kuwait City (2018); One Blood at the UNESCO Palace, Beirut (2013); Not for Sale at the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights, Berlin (2009); In God We Trust and Not for Sale at Visage Gallery, Berlin (2009); and In God We Trust at Ethan Cohen Fine Arts in New York
(2004). Sy has participated in several art fairs with Agial Art Gallery, including Art Dubai, Abu Dhabi Art, and Beirut Art Fair, and in Paris Art Fair with Galerie 8+4. His books include Love Bible: Words of Love, published with Bernard Chauveau in 2018 and Hardie Grant Books in 2019. Sy is a co-editor of Yves Saint-Laurent: Forty Years of Creation (1958–1998), published in 1998 in tandem with the International Festival of Fashion Photography. From 1990 to 1998, he was the co-organizer of this festival with Beatrice Dupire. His work can be found in the Dalloul Art Foundation in Beirut and Fonds National d’Art Contemporain in Paris.
